I have a 17059272 that I just rebuilt using Cliff's kit. I've read Cliff's book over and over. I'm looking for an information I never found anywhere. This carb has a large "port" up front where the bowl used to be vented to the canister. There is no canister now on this application (1967 Firebird, stock 326 HO. It is now left open to the atmosphere. Should I cap it to help "slow" the evaporation process that makes it a bit long to start after a few days ? It's still vented by the top vent just over the power piston so it won't build pressure. Just wanted to know other people's thoughts on that, if that could help or it won't change a thing or if it's just something I shouldn't do. Frank.
