How far down should Piston seat?

(1/1)

leeklm:
Hello,

While working on carb # 7043252, I removed the steel tang/spring in the base plate in order to perform some sanding on the plate.  My question is... how can I be sure that the tang is positioned correctly so that it is not holding my power piston up too far?  See the pictures below of the tang and my power piston in the down (full vacuum) position.

Is there a measurement of the height of the power piston to be sure it is seating correctly?

Thanks!

I would install one of our external adjustment screws so it's easy to access once placed in service.

They need to be adjusted and tested to find the ideal setting......Cliff

Thanks, do have a pt# for kit with instructions, etc.?  I did not see it in the book, but maybe need to take a closer look.

Cliff Ruggles:
Those screws can be very difficult to remove, as the factory set the metering rod height, then locked the adj screw in place and put a cover over it.

The cover must be carefully removed, and use plenty of penetrating oil and some heat from a propane torch to the underside of the baseplate to get the adjustment screw loosened up.

Once removed, we have an external screw with a spring to replace it....Cliff
