Just rebuilt a 17058228 carb. I drill the small holes for the accel pump out to 0.028 among a few other changes.

When I put the carb back into service and fired it up, it died shortly thereafter. No big deal, but now the accelerator pump is misbehaving and I, of course, have no idea why.

Basically, when I thick the throttle I get a nice geyser of fluid out of the slot just in front of the air horn nearest the accelerator pump.

I'm thinking what I'm seeing is due to a warped air horn, but I'd like to know what else I should diagnose. I can definitely see cupping of the airhorn. When I hold the air horn upside down and run a scale between the two mounting flanges for the carb-to-intake bolts there's a definite gap under the center.

another note: I used a feeler gauge to estimate the clearance under the center of the scale. My largest feeler gauge (025) went in easily with just a slight amount of slop. I'd guess 027-028 under the scale. (at the center of the airhorn)

If it's shooting out those holes, the tiny holes on the cross drilled partition are plugged up.....Cliff
