17057262 Qjet
Ozzmann:
Is this a good carb to modify? Thinking about getting a latter model qjet and rebuilding to suit my 69 Goat. From what I've read in Cliff's book it should be a improvement over my older one.
Cliff Ruggles:
Excellent unit, about as good as it gets for a starting point for a really nice high performance Q-jet.
I use a 17057274 on my 455, same carb as the 17057262.
Here's a shot of it in use:

Ozzmann:
Thanks Cliff, I'll fill out a quote request via the website for a rebuild kit.
I guess I'm going to need jets and rods as well if this carb was originally for a late model 350 engine.
would I use close to the same specs on this carb , as I did on my 4988s?(on a 400 block 30 over)
jets------------------073"
prim.rods--------------41
idle channels---------.058"
idle tubes------------0385"
upper idle air bleeds---.051"
lower idle air bleeds---.070"
idle air bypass-------.096
mixture screws-------0.96
sec. rods -----------Cliff's
main body air bleed-------0.70
main air bleed air horn--------0.70
idle bypass air void holes....... .140
It runs great , I just want to build another one! ;D
Cliff Ruggles:
No, there is little to nothing the same between those units. I'll hook you up with details via email when we send the parts out......Cliff
beertracker:
Is 17057276 a 800CFM unit? If so should it be identified with a bump in the bore casting?
