does anyone know of the best float to use for oval.track is 3/8 dirt and ive modified carb using cliffs book and its great, but i was just wondering about float.

Cliff Ruggles:
What is the carburetor number?....Cliff

ratrodmerc:
thanks for responding Cliff.the # is7041211.The carb runs great using your tips from the book, but im trying to get any little extra i can get.engine is 305,.040 over,rv cam and a little head work with 3.43 gear and 215/70/15 tires and track is 3/8 dirt and when its hot we have that south carolina high humidity.I also have plenty of carbs if this is not the best one.have read your book ten times and learn something new each time.....Thanks

Cliff Ruggles:
That carburetor will accept the late style small float from the 1975 and later carburetors.  Do not use the brass version, it is too heavy.

Those carburetors are excellent, needs a little help as they are emission calibrated.  I'd also look a the venting in the airhorn, they have a tendency to spill/splash out some fuel in circle track and drag racing applications.

For circle track, we install a taller front vent, then block off all other venting and internally vent the POE wells back to the main fuel bowl.....Cliff

ratrodmerc:
Thanks Cliff,i will give this a try and do you have plans for another book for just different racing apps.
