7037576 - New Rebuild
« on: November 04, 2012, 03:15:58 PM »
Hi Guy's,
I'm new to the forum and to Quadrajets.

I have a 7037576 on a 1986 Pontiac Firebird with a 250 OHC engine.

The engine and carb where rebuilt this spring.  The engine head is polished and ported with a slightly more aggressive cam. I put in forged pistons and balance and blue printed the engine. We expect the car to run 6000 rpm redline.

The car idles with 14" of vacuum.
The fuel pressure at idle is 5.8 PSI

The car pulls good to 3700 -4500 RPM then starts to stumbles.  It stumbles and surges to 5000 RPM and does not pull very hard.

I'm not sure where to start with the carb adjustments.  Any directions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bob

Sucking the bowl low or empty.  I'd install a larger needle/seat assembly, we sell them here....Cliff

i had this problem while back. fuel filter on carb inlet picks up super fine particals and plugs up enough cant feed higher rpms. might check that first 3 doller filter could be all it is.
