E-85 Conversion?
(1/1)
leeklm:
Been reading some about guys converting Holleys over to E85, and am curious if any of you are having success converting the Qjet? I assume the primary issue is to feed it more fuel compared to regular gas.
I like the idea of E85 in order to run a little more compression in the Pontiac, running cooler, and is plentiful supply here in MN.
Anyone have experience?

We haven't built any here to date. We have sold quite a few kits for them, including tuning parts to recalibrate for the E-85. Our parts are holding up fine....Cliff

What size seat do you used to keep it full?
Seems like that would be the main problem keeping the bowl full.
Cliff Ruggles:
Depends on the power level. We recalibrate to increase fuel delivery by apprx 30 percent (jets and metering rods). Haven't done any here to see what size fuel seat is needed for any particular power level, so really don't know. I would think the .135" seat would be fine to at least 500hp with the right fuel pump and large enough lines....Cliff

I have 2 qjets built for my 455. Once the new engine is running well with 92 Octane, I might have to do some experimenting with the 2nd qjet and E85. Wont be until next summer, so I will report back with any success or failure. Hopefully more success than failure...
