Carburetors
« on: January 07, 2013, 09:19:32 AM »
I have a '70 Firebird Formula 400 with true Ram Air hood. The carb. I have now is #7043244 (I think it's from Buick)
What will work and clear linkage on intake and be able to use the ram air cleaner?

You are correct. 7043244 is from a 1973 Buick Century (and other models) 350cid A/T. Not sure on your linkage question. You may have to find a early '70s Pontiac Qjet to work with the Ram Air Cleaner.

Thanks---The air cleaner works on this carb. but would to buy a new rebuilt to replace it, that is better than stock.

The Buick carb doesn't have the correct throttle linkage for what you are doing.  The large "beak" often hits the underside of the factory air cleaner, and there is no provision for a return spring aft of the carburetor....Cliff
