Hanger height isn't all that critical, at least not as critical as the metering rods selected to use with it. Metering rods with fat upper sections and short tips and going to like a high hanger. Medium taper rods somewhere in the mid-range, and rich taper with long tips a low hanger.
The best starting point is around G thru M, and test from there.
If you are changing metering rods as part of your testing, you will also need to change hangers with them, to find the best height for any particular rod.
It is best to have a set of metering rods, machined from the same cores, with the same tip lengh, for fine tuning at the race track, or engine/chassis dyno. This makes things easy, as once you find the best hanger to run with them, you only need to change the metering rods for any/all tuning.....Cliff
