Shark Racer:
It looks like the hook is going through one of the holes? If so, that's incorrect. That can side load the needle and allow fuel to bypass.

Take a look at this finished carb:
It goes around the half-moon shape on the front. You can sort of see under the float hinge pin there.

Ok that did the trick. I tested it by having the wife turn the key to on while I held the pivot point of the float down. It cuts the gas off good now.
