extra piece after rebuilding quadrajet

hey guys, i am curious if any of you have seen where this piece that i have after rebuilding my quadrajet goes or came from... I have a solid green pin that i cannot figure out where it goes. it is approximately 3/16 inches in diameter and 3/4 inches long..

also, it came out of a 1983 caprice wagon and the casting number is 17084208.

 Welcome to CHP!

 That piece looks to be the pushrod for the throttle position sensor and acts as a plunger. If you turn the air horn upside down, you will see the lever for the TPS and a hole right beside it. That is where it goes.

sorry for this response as it is very novice but this was the first carb i have opened up/rebuilt. i have always had someone else help with the carb stuff so... what is the air horn? also i always say im from missouri, show me... im not up on my terminology yet.

 Not a problem. The air horn is the top part of the carb, the float bowl is middle part of the carb and throttle body is the bottom part of the carb. So, you will have three main pieces when taken apart. The throttle position sensor or TPS, is located on the driver side front of the carb. Should be a white or black electrical plug sticking out, before you took it apart.

 Here is the part you need help on, that you don't know where it goes. I am not a 100% sure, but it is the only part I can think of it being.

 You can see the plunger in the above photo. It is the one near the TPS lever, where you can see the green plunger sticking out alittle.
