wecome to chp ive never broke one off.i heat them till the locktite lets loose that they use to hold them in place. if i had to take a broken on out i would drill it.i would use a drill the size of the outer bore to start with so i could mark the center of the apt screw . then i would start with a small drill bit and work my way up in size.your still going to have to heat it or you will break the tap off. another option would be to drill it out and get an external on from cliff.

I cut a new slot in the atp screw and heated it with a hand-held propane torch for 40 mins off and on (6-8 mins at a time).  It won't break free.  I actually melted the screwdriver handle to where it was turning to mush and rotating. Any suggestions?

How about using a flat screw driver bit, with a socket, extension and ratchet? That would give you a lot more leverage at least.

I'm trying not to break the screw again.  That's how it broke the 1st time.

I'm working on a 7044202 with the same type of apt that I want to get access to.  Can the plug be drilled
And pulled with a screw or is the standard procedure to just drill it the same size as the hole it is plugging?

you can drill it and pull it like your saying.ive got some nice base plates laying around that ive already pulled and took the screw out . heat and a little canning wax takes them out pretty easy.

I was able to get the screw out by grinding a new slot.  The slot was ground into the edge of the baseplate too.
