Weird no.s off my 7028268 carb. base

I have rebuilt probably 40 carbs so far & im confused a little bit. Every pontiac carb. ive rebuilt carb i did for 68 thru 70the base plate was always stamped 7037174, just came across a 68 carb. 7028268 with a identicle base in every way but its stamped
7035733 humm, why any help?? Thanks for reading my question & hope you can help me out.

 Don't know either. Correct baseplate casting number for that carb is 7035898.

Ethan i may be wrong but i think that no. is the complete baseplate assembly not the one in the circle on rear of baseplate
directly behind bore of carb.

 My bad. You are correct.

 Maybe it is a "newer" version of that baseplate? Kind of like a service replacement? I am not sure.
