Fuel leaking out around primary shaft

<< < (3/3)

Cliff Ruggles:
Since the fuel bowl has no places to leak below the fuel level, fuel can't run out around the primary shaft after shut down unless it's flooding over, dripping from the boosters, etc.

It has to have a leak at one of the bottom plugs, crack in the bowl, or the fuel level is getting high after shut-down (flooding)......Cliff

phk1967:
Only other thing I can think of is I did replace the paper filter with a stone one, could this be causing the fuel level to get that high after shutdown? I'm going to put in a paper filter with a check valve if I can find one and see if that solves the problem. If not, then I give up and I'll just send you a different one to recolor and replace idle jets in and then I'll set that one up.
Thanks for your help so far.

Cliff Ruggles:
The check valve filters are there to prevent drain back, and will not effect carburetor filling....Cliff
