Fuel leaking out around primary shaft

<< < (2/3) > >>

phk1967:
I finally had time to look at it again and the Fuel bowl was just about empty when I removed the top. I removed the seat and replaced it with a solid window, old one was sealing by the way and took the clip off the needle and just dropped it in, now I'm just getting a few small drips after shutoff so it's getting better but still not fixed. Any other suggestions?

Cliff Ruggles:
Did you hit the checkball hard enough to crack the casting under it?....Cliff

phk1967:
No, I just gave it a few taps using a small hammer. How can I check my casting to see if it has any cracks at home?, I should of had you do that when you replaced the fuel plugs in it last month.

Cliff Ruggles:
Fill the bowl with fuel and see if it leaks out.  Leave the fuel inlet seat and needle in place.  If it's leaking bad enough to come out the primary shaft, it will show a leak on a bench test.....Cliff

phk1967:
I put a sheet of paper under the carb and filled it with fuel. It sat for 3 days and it isn't leaking, any other suggestions on what may be causing my problem?
