Help with Marine Quadrajet

<< < (2/2)

rozicrc:
The issue I have is the mercerized manual states 3/8", the rebuild kit i bought from you was like 7/32 from memory, and I called you and you said to go with 1/4" for the carb based on experience.  I set for 1/4" could this be my issue and how would I tell?

rozicrc:
I set for 3/8 last night and it is starting fine then over filling bowl and killing engine.  Fuel pressure is 5.5 psi and I vacuum checked needle and seat and lost 2 inches of mercury in 2 minutes with two different seats and needles.  I am going to change floats and if that does not work I am going to sit in a corner and cry like a little girl.

rozicrc:
After crying for a couple of hours I checked fuel pressure with a new gage.  Turning the motor over made 6 psi.  That was one expensive gage...

Cliff Ruggles:
Over-filling the bowl is a flooding condition.  This can be caused by a leak under the fuel inlet seat at the gasket, leaking at the needle in the seat, float too high, or tiny clip hung thru one of the holes in the float causing it to stick and not seal when the float raises.

A Marine carb should be fine at 6psi fuel pressure any float setting that you have used......Cliff
