How do i keep the pull-off linkage from falling off?

The carb came without one (ebay, $10).  The 1st one I bought disappeared soon after carb installation (2 weeks ago).  The 2nd one I bought was laying on the intake today.

What is the carburetor number? 

A pic of the linkage, pull-off and how it is being installed would really help out......Cliff
