Quadrajet bogging at WOT
« on: February 08, 2015, 04:38:40 PM »
I recently had Cliff rebush my baseplate, epoxy the plugs on the bottom, I rebuilt the carb with one of his kits.  Starts great, runs great except when I go to WOT, it does not hesitate, but it bogs down for a second or 2 the pulls out of it and accelerates like it should.  It is on a 68 GTO convertible with manual trans.  I have tried adjusting everything I know to adjust, but cannot fix the problem.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i'm no expert but i think you should check if your choke pulloff is leaking vacumm. The choke pulloff control the opening speed of the secondaries and can cause a bog.

After reading all the posts last night, it seems like the first place to start.  Will try tonight.  Thanks

Started with 3/4 turn on the secondary air valve spring.  Very sluggish.  Backed off to 1/2 turn and ran much better.  Will continue to play with it until it is dialed in.  That must have been it.  Thanks
