hey guys, i have a 1972 olds 350 10.5 compression, headers, hei and a 17059253, 73 jets 55 rods, even turning up apt screw still have off idle hesitation , plugs are white , seeing that on these  forums i should use a 74 jet with the custom 44 tapered rods, would i still need to put the apt back where it was before now? And would anyone have a spare airehorn for this carb? i buggered the accelerator pump roll pin casting when i opened it last night to check rod and jet sizes.

No need to replace the airhorn, we have several very easy repairs for that problem.

Those are excellent units, just finished one up here right before lunch.

55 metering rods are WAY too big for that carb and it will be lean on the primary side not matter where you set the APT at.

I would get our full tapered .044" metering rods and a new pair of jets.  Good time to put some better internals in the carb while it is apart, I'd get one of our SR kits at the same time.   This will get it up to par for this new fuel, and the correct high flow N/S assembly, and our HP accl pump assembly as well.  The kit also comes with a small close cell nitrophyl float, secondary plastic cam/spring, and new retainer for the PP......Cliff
