cleaning/boiling carburetors
(1/1)
tayto:
Anyone have any methods for boiling carburetors at home? I can't get carb dip locally was hoping maybe I could do a solution in a pot and boil the parts at home (outside). Any other cleaning methods? I was also thinking maybe a cheap ultrasonic cleaner. Thanks!
Cliff Ruggles:
Ultra sonic is the best method these days, and easiest on the castings.
I'm not or ever have been fond of chemical cleaning much beyond degreasers or dawn dish soap, etc.....Cliff

cliff, i think I've found a good deal on a 10L ultrasonic cleaner. its chineseium, but should last for my hobby needs. what chemicals/solution do you recommend using in the ultrasonic cleaner? temperature? thanks!
Ethan1:
What Cliff said. Ultrasonic cleaning is the best and safe method for cleaning ALL carburetors, as they clean them thoroughly and efficiently. ;)
Cliff Ruggles:
I just use a little Dawn dish soap and half a cup of purple power degreaser in about 5 gallons tap water.....Cliff
