Cliff- Thank you for rescuing my Q-Jet
« on: May 15, 2015, 07:14:02 AM »
I want to acknowledge Cliff for a great job sorting out my Q-Jet.  I bought a "restored" Q-Jet from ebay that was correct for my Corvette.  When installed, the car wouldn't idle, had a terrible case of nozzle drip, and wouldn't respond to idle mixture adjustments.  There was no improvement after I disassembled, cleaned and installed a new kit.

So I sent the carb to Cliff who diagnosed and repaired it within a few days.  It turns out someone had blocked the idle bypass holes in the casting with lead plugs and opened up the lower idle airbleed way beyond specs... changes that weren't apparent to my layman eyes (and I'm a guy who has installed kits in Q-Jets for many years).

Now, the car idles steady as a rock, has great throttle response and sounds amazing.  :)
