Good deal. What happens when you adjust the mixture screws now?

I only have mixture screws out about 2.5-3 turns now compared to the 4 or more before opening up the passage.

Cliff Ruggles:
.040" idle tubes are HUGE in one of those carbs.

I would remove the triangular cover over the upper idle airbleed adjustment and gently seat it.  It may be open too far and leaning out the idle system.

Even for HUGE cams the biggest idle tube I'd put in one of those carbs would be .038", most get .034-.036" tubes.....Cliff

Hey Cliff I had to seat that bleed screw completely. If I tried to open it it ran worse. It has been driven a bunch since drilling out the idle channel restrictor and it has been working great.

Hard to know what had been done to this carb before he bought the car. It was kind of a mess and we had to straighten out a bunch of things that were all wrong.
