Hello,
I'm seeking some advice on sourcing out a quality core q-jet to send in for a reman. There are so many questionable rebuilds out there, how can you tell if what you are grabbing ahsn't already been butchered? Does Cliff's have a supply of vetted cores available?
The application will be in a 1977 Jeep Cherokee Chief. Currently it is a bone stock 2bbl California emmisions setup with the auto trans and quardra-trac full time four wheel drive. My plan is to swap it over to a 5sp manual, and part time, and for the engine, an Edelbrock performer with spread bore adapter.
I've run this combination on my YJ rock buggy for years and it's been a great combo. Unfortunately the carb on the YJ, I can't remember exactly what application it was for. I bought it from the local Lordco auto parts, and I think I may have just pulled a random GM 350v8 application out of my head..So I don't know that it is a completely suitable match.
A bit long winded, but if someone could point me int he right direction as to which model of q-jet I should be looking for, and also, what to look for to avaoid some of these bad reman jobs.
Thanks
