How to remove and replace the "pressed in" style fuel seat on a 1967 Q-jet.

I'm rebuilding a 1967 Q-jet and it has a "pressed in" needle / seat assembly. I guess this model was manufactured in between the early plunger type and the later screw in type assembly. Any tips on how to remove the seat. I'm going to try a vacuum test to see if it's worn out first, but it would be nice if I could replace it.

Rebuild kits for those will come with the later upgraded seat assembly and block off plug for the bypass port.....Cliff

Thanks Cliff. I'm using a Hygrade 497A kit. There is a piece similar to whats "staked" (?)in the carb, but it is different. I'm wondering how to remove the old one ( if it's worn out). My Rochester book and others state the "seat" is "staked" in place.
I didn't see any info in the kit. Do I need to design and fabricate a special tool ? Thanks.

The replacement seats are either pressed in or use a retainer and two screws to hold them in place.  Either type is easy to remove, if it's the pressed in variety just pull it out of the casting.

The accl pump in the kit you bought it a POS, at a minimum I'd put one of our pumps in it or you'll be back in there in short order......Cliff

Thanks Cliff. The pump umbrella is blue in color. Supposedly it's for the new crap gas. I put a Hy-grade kit in my 69 Camaro recently and it seems to work......for now. Just wondering if your reference on the accel pump was the material used for the umbrella ? If they're all junk then I will purchase several from you as I have several Q-Jet projects.
