New to the sight and looks to have great info. My question concerns the difference, if any, between a quadrajet for SBC vs a BBC. I have a 69 Vette 4SP 427 390 horse. The carb that came with it is a 7029201 which is for a 69 Chevy BBC, just not a Vette. The carb that belongs on that engine is a 7029215 (very hard to find) My question is, is it just the jetting and rods that make it applicable to a BBC or are there true differences in the carb itself. I have a couple of small SBC carbs that I have been trying to build as a BBC using the the recommended jets and rods, but with now real success yet. Trying to find a decent donor is a challenge.

 Probably just differences in things like jets/metering rods and the difference sizes of the air bleed orifices, etc.

Like Ethan said, you will have differences in not only the jets/rods, but also the internal circuits.  Basically, any quadrajet can be set up to work for your 427.  It would be easier to start with a BBC  carb since it would be closer to best specs.

Thanks for the replies. Just sent a note to Cliff to see if he can helicoil the fuel inlet line on the only BBC carb body I have. Although not the correct number it is listed as a 396/427 carb
