Edelbrock1910 lean idle
« on: December 12, 2015, 12:17:43 AM »
As the title says, I have a Edelbrock1910 Q-jet. IIt's on my 69 Olds, 455 , Edelbrock heads, roller cam (249-256 at .050) 10.8 compression torker
intake, etc. I have control over the idle mixture, I can make the engine run rough by turning the idle screws in, and idle rough by turning then out, but it takes 8-9 turns out to get an acceptable idle. Needless to say, with them turned out that far, they don't stay where I want them. I have tried tosstretch the springs, I would prefer to modify the carb so a more typical 4-5 turns out would provide an acceptable idle. I have checked for vacuum leaks, the cruise and full throttle mixture is great. Suggestions or opinions as to what needs changed? Thanks

Edelbrock 1910's had many different idle calibrations.  I would start by taking it apart and seeing how it is set-up, then add more idle fuel based on what you find.

While it's apart, I would also put one of our kits in it.  Edelbrock used a crappy pump in those, among other things.....Cliff

I would rather just order the correct parts to get the calibration right. I would prefer to take the carb apart once. When is the best time to call and place the order?
