Who,s right & wrong on 1971 Quadrajets

Mr.Pontiac:
Im having a disscussion with my best friend about when did pontiac switch there tops to the style with bolt on vent with 2 hold down screws.
I am saying they started doing this in 73 he says 71.This next generation style i fill came out in 73,s and did away with the (bymetal) strip style vent on top of carb. Shoot been wrong before but it may costs me a beer or two.  Help!!!

This actually started in 1970, as the Pontiac CA emission carbs got the removable front vent and it had the venting parts in it from the accl pump arm.

1971 to 1974 Pontiac q-jets CA or 48 State will have the removable large front vent......Cliff
