Secondary choke kickdown question
« on: July 16, 2016, 10:14:12 AM »
Hi,Vic the newbie here,I have a 69 c20 w/350/AT/ aftmrkt hei /headers. Anyway ,it has a quad 7040240 ( R4-4MV ) that needs a  rebuild. In the meantime ,to hold me over I got a reman with same number only it has a secondary choke kickdown .My question is ,will this work until I get the working carb redone and will I have to modify in any way?? Thanks for any advice ,I need it.

That 7040240 is correct for a 70 Buick 455 and it wont be close to what need for your 350 without modifications.

I dont understand what you are referring to about the extra kickdown.  can you post a picture?

From 1970 to 74 the Buick divorce choke carburetors used a secondary choke pull-off.

Nothing about a 7040240 is correct for this particular application, linkage, choke, fuel inlet location, vacuum fittings, etc, so being "remanufactured" hard to tell what they have done to it to sell it for a Chevy truck set-up?......Cliff
