Yeah, they do that when you don't grind off the peened-over part on the opposite side.
If you're really lucky, you could perhaps grab the peened end with a small vice-grip or side cutter, and just thread it out the other side.
Cliff sells a kit to re-bush the throttle body. I 'spect he'll be along here shortly to tell you how to order the bushing kit and The Book.
Seems to me the screws are #3; but it's been awhile and I've forgotten the thread pitch.

ok thanks. Cliff quote me on fixing this for me. or parts
Cliff Ruggles:
The best repair is to send the baseplate and shafts here, and well fix it, flatten the throttle body on both sides, install bushings, and send it back to you with the parts needed to completely and correctly rebuild your carburetor.
I would NOT attempt to drill out those little screws, they are harder than the shaft and it's easy to really screw up the whole deal.
I have new replacment shafts in stock, and plenty of used ones as well, but installing one is somewhat involved as we have to remove all the hardware from yours and install it on the new one, MIG weld in place, plate the parts, etc......Cliff

thanks cliff, but I dont want to wait 6 months to get it back. my 77 W72 400 will be ready to dino in a week or two. the the engine builder wants to use the carb I will be using on it. I would of liked it if you rebuilt the it. what kind of time am I looking at on getting it back? and cost?
