After a rebuild
« on: August 18, 2016, 03:09:17 AM »
My carb is a '69 4MV, 7029202. Hard to explain, it acts like the throttle is sticking when accelerating in 2nd gear. So much so the tires bark. No problem with the other gears. I tried different return springs but haven't found the right one. I also tried adjusting the linkage but haven't found the right combination.
So I'm wondering if it's something else. It runs great & idles good. What could be the problem?

Light, heavy, or full throttle?

Check to see if the accl pump cup has swelled up and the pump is sticking in the bore making the throttle hard to depress.....Cliff

Thanks for replying, Cliff. I haven't looked at the accelerator pump yet but I did get a larger spring at O'Reilly's and it made a big difference.
