base plate holes

I just picked up a used q-jet. My first. I noticed that there are holes in the base plate that look like they're from wear/tear. Is that common? Will these be a problem? Do I need to find another base plate or can these be repaired?

This is a '79 and newer Quadrajet and those came with "sealed" idle mixture screws. This looks like the start of an attempt to unseal them. Are they unsealed ? Either way, I think you should be alright.
