Carter made a lot of aftermarket replacement Quadrajet with a 4 digit stamped # for most makes using a Quadrajet from factory.
They also made original factory units for Chevy and Pontiac with the same application numbers as Rochester made Quadrajets. No high performance units though.
The 4954S is some kind of a mystery, i guess Carter was stopped from making a 7029273 after they made a bunch of float bowls for these (before they got the 7029273 number stamped) and they stamped 4954S on it and made an Olds replacement unit of it instead. The 4954S bowl has the EXACT specs as the 7029273 bowl, cast number, stamped number, idle tubes, downchannels, upper idle air bleeds in air horn, lower air bleeds, secondary well holes, no hot idle compensator and a 1969 Pontiac float (not the large Olds float).
