Would a 17081586 be a good starting point for my 283?

Not familiar with that carburetor number?

Hmmmm. I will double check the number and get back with y'all

Haagdakta:
Looks like the 1 would denote 1981. The 5 would indicate California carb. The 8 could be Checker Cab, perhaps. What are the challenges involved with tuning a California emissions carb, or should I look for something else?

Haagdakta:
Looks like the 8 could also be "marine"
