slashed vent tube

I noticed the factory slashed the main vent tube on some cars, is there any benefit to this? Anyone know the reason they slashed the vent? Thanks

Well, I know it was used on the larger CFM models. Not sure why they slashed them though. I bet it was some sort of performance mod or something.

I recall, maybe it was stated by Cliff, that the slash helped with fuel slosh in the bowl. I could be completely wrong... :o
