I bought that book, and on page 149 it says "Idle tubes are literally impossible to remove without a special tool. And these tools and parts are not dealer service items, so don't expect help from your local parts man or service manager. They do not have the parts or required tools."
I didn't see anything about how to make a tool
Good book though, lots of information, thanks for the suggestion.

...I'll just use Cliff's method to pop those tubes out, it works pretty dang good. I even made a video ;)
