Pontiac 702726* carb question
« on: November 08, 2018, 11:21:15 AM »
I bought a big pile of parts from an old Pontiac collector, over 15 years ago. In it was a quadrajet carb that appears to me to have been restamped as a 67 Pontiac carb. The base is 7037174, the main body is 7038024 (K19), the top is 7038736.  It appears to me the area where the application code is stamped, has been milled down and restamped 7027263, the 6 is slightly double struck, and the 3, or possibly 8, is very faint. It appears to be a nice hardly used carb, probably refurbished at some time. I will probably have it rejetted for my area, near Denver, and use it on a non correct driver car.

Any information about this carb, for my general knowledge, would be appreciated.

My email is wadey67gto@gmail.com if you want to respond directly.

Your file is too small to get a good look at the stamped number.

The original units were round tag, not stamped in 1967 so it's going to be a Service Replacement or a "re-stamp".

They did make quite a few blank 1967 castings so it still could be correct for a 1967 Pontiac carb but I can't tell anything about it from the pic.....Cliff
