Hi Guys.
I've got a weird Q-Jet that I can't seem to positively identify. Here goes
It's a single booster (small outer venturi ring only below) and the carb number is 7041270 with a date code of 1589 and the plant is "VG". I would have thought this carb NOT to exist based on these numbers. Here's what I got from this and it doesn't make any sense to me...
71 Pontiac with 455HO (only), based on venturi, BUT built a year beforehand?
Maybe a mis-stamp on the date (9 vs. 0), but I also thought the single booster carbs were manual trans only. The main body "ID pad area" has not been tampered with (casting grain is not ground, polished, numbers are clear, etc.).
Thoughts?
