Early Q Jet
« on: July 21, 2010, 04:45:49 AM »
I had an early Chevy (side inlet) Q jet given to me recently. It has the added round tag but numbers are no longer readable. Also has the weird secondary air valve lever/plunger device. Was '66 or '67 the last year for this design? It looks to be a rebuildable core. Is there much demand from restorers for these early Q jets? Does anyone reproduce the round number tags?

Very early 65 or 66 model.  They are not well suited for performance applications.  We avoid them here other than for complete numbers matching restorations.  They have the early plunger style fuel inlet set-up, and always leak at just about every bottom plug in them!.....Cliff
