Pontiac "29268WF 0699 Carb question

New here and this is my first post. I have a question regarding a carburetor I purchased as an upgrade for my 1969 Firebird.  Through  doing some research on my own, I have been able to determine that it is actually 7029268WF, a 4MV Quadrajet (possibly built by Carter) for a Pontiac 350, 400 & 428 AT. My question is in regard to the throttle plate. The only numbers I see on it are in a circle on a raised pad near the right rear mounting hole. The numbers are 7024284 and at the bottom right of the picture of the base plate there is a vacuum port which is weathered badly. I am trying to determine if this is the correct base plate for the application i am planning to use it for.  My Firebird has a mildly modified 1969 Pontiac motor bored .30 over with a Comp Cams hydraulic cam kit (224/230 duration, 477/480 lift), with a stock 350 turbo and stock 256 rear gearing. The intake manifold I am planning on using is from a 1970 Pontiac 400 p/n 9799068.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it was built by Carter it will say so on the main castings, drivers side.  Carter built quite a few Pontiac Q-jets under contract to keep up with demand.  They are dubbed as equally as good as the Rochester units and built to the same specs, but from what I've seen the materials they cast the main body and airhorn from are not as good as the Rochester's.

Not sure about your casting number and rusted fitting.  If you can supply a pic of the entire baseplate on both sides I can tell you if it is correct for that carburetor number.

Same with the airhorn, pics of the entire part always help......Cliff

I do not believe you have the correct throttle body for that carburetor.
It is not unusual to see a mismatch of parts on a carb that old - so it may work...

I do not know the application (eg: division and year range) that the 7024284 throttle body was used on;
My principal area of interest is 1968-1972 Pontiac Quadrajets (with some 67 & 73/74 numbers recorded).

I can only make a suggestion - google that number, you might hit pay dirt and figure out if it's for (oh lets say) an Oldsmobile for 1969...

My understanding is that there is essentially tow designs for the throttle body:
1) there is a plug at the front/center to adjust the primary piston (not sure if I'm remembering the correct erm)
2) throttle bodies without the plug ect.

From my limited experience, Pontiac carbs do not use the "type 1" throttle body.

Also, to build on Cliffs response, the carter differences can be subtle, but every carter made part does have distinct callouts...

Thanks Cliff and Johnny for your responses.  I will work on getting some more pictures of the Quadrajet to assist in its identification.
