2004R TV cable linkage, plate, adaptor
« on: April 28, 2020, 05:07:51 PM »
Well, I am getting ready to pull my Edelbrock 1406 and Edelbrock Performer intake off of my 1969 GTO and replace them with the factory original cast intake and my newly rebuilt Quadrajet and have come to my first - and hopefully only roadblock.
My GTO has a 2004R in it which I absolutely love, and although I still have the factory TH400 I have no intention of going back. That said, the TV cable bracket and mounting cam on the Edelbrock will not work on the Quadrajet.

Cliff - do you have a set up that you stock or recommend?

My carb is #7029268 and as mentioned I will also be using the original cast intake manifold.

Any help at all is much appreciated!

Joe

I would find a bell crank off a later model qjet that had a 2004r or 700r4 hooked to it. tv cable adjustment and geometry is critical for long transmission life. some of those carbs came with a tv bracket that bolted to the 2 rear bolts.

here's a picture of the bracket i was talking about. back when i was 18 I tried using a th350 kickdown stud for a 2004r. a brand new rebuild only lasted 1.5 years. it was behind a 305 2bbl

I found one of those brackets digging around for something the other day in the shop.  I thought I'd sold all of them......
