Jims36:
Just completed recipe #1 on 17059216 using HP kit and Cliffs advise. Changed main air bleeds (4 of them) from .120 using Cliffs screw in brass restrictors. Started out with .046 in all 4, ran great but 13 MPG. Went to .070 in all main air bleeds and retried it. With the .070 main air bleeds and Cliffs .071 jets, 44 full taper rods now running 22 MPG in my 36 Chevy pickup at 75 MPH. Idles good, runs good, no issues. I

I know this is an older thread but could someone comment on the .071 jets with the 44 full taper rods. Just trying to learn all I can. I thought the full taper rod would need a larger jet. Thanks

Cliff Ruggles:
The jet requirements would be based on the carburetor part number and how it is set-up.

That carburetor originally had large MAB's and he installed smaller ones....

lightning boy:
Jim, just wanted to verify, did you run the 71 jet and 44 rod with the .046 air bleed at first?
Or did you change to the 71/44 at the time you installed the .070 air bleed?
A 9 MPG improvement with just the MAB change!
