I have a 1980 Corvette with the original quadrajet. Took it out for the first time today after rebuilding with Cliffs full rebuild kit and larger primary jets and rods. Noticed very quickly the secondaries weren't opening. Found that the fast idle cam wasn't rotating enough to release the secondaries, even thought the choke was full hot. If I'm not mistaken, the fast idle cam strictly moves by gravity, nothing physically moves it down. Is this correct?
The only thing I can think of is that it may not be lubricated enough to freely move. I tried to put some white lithium grease on the mechanism, but is there something better to clean and free it up? Thanks!
