I can’t find a breakdown for the 17057553 carb for rods/jets combo. I know it’s a 1977 small block Oldsmobile California model and it has 76 jets and CV secondary rods but I can’t find a stamp on the primary rods. I plan on building this for my factory stock 455 olds motor after I do a cam swap. I’m not sure what cam I will be using now so I don’t need suggestions yet, just trying to I’d the primary rods. Also does anybody have a link with the breakdown for this and other similar carbs? Thanks Joel.

17057553 uses #74 jets, 50M pri. rods and CV sec. rods from factory.

To effectively set it up for a 455 build it will need a different jet/rod combo, power piston spring, etc.  Call me at the shop and I'll set you up with the correct parts. I've done scores of those units for folks on a similar path and can nail down the tune first time around taking the guesswork out of the equation......Cliff

Kenth, thank you for the info and Cliff, I was will call you for the setup when I decide on my cam. I’m trying to get my 70 series carb from my other thread dialed in first, the cam swap won’t be until next year.

I build engines for a living and have a lot of experience with Olds and Pontiac 455's.  First determine the heads you'll be using, then the compression ratio.  For the Old's 455's there are a lot of piston choices and most are dished so you can put the compression pretty much wherever you want it.  I shoot for 10 to 1 with most of my street 455 builds with iron heads, some go much lower.  Depends really on the goals for the project, power level desired, etc.....

So I have decided to go ahead a set this carb up for my 455. Currently it has the smaller 2bbl cam. When I redo the cam I will retune the carb. I did find that the primary rods are 49v which I can’t find on any charts. Would these be comparable to the 49b used on early Olds big block cars? What suggestions do you have for rods jets combo?  Also what size idle tubes and DCR’s would I need? Should I set it up close to a stock carb for my motor or is there better options? I was thinking the 49v primary rods with 70 jets and the CV secondary rods, .052 for the DCR and .037 idle tubes. Any opinions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
