jagness:
I'm kind of confused by the number of this carb: 17054907. I was told that it's a service replacement carb, but how can you tell that from the number? The julian date code is 0375. Does that mean it was built in '75 for an earlier vehicle? Also, should it get the later, shorter primary metering rods?

Kenth:
17054907   is a Delco/Rochester Service Replacement Quadrajet for 1971 Pontiac 400-455 M/T&A/T and has #71 primary jets, #44 primary rods, BU secondary rods, 7/16 turn on airvalve preload spring and uses a #7037305 power piston spring.

jagness:
Thanks. How do you find all that info? And does it use the later, shorter primary metering rods?

Kenth:
This info is from the Delco Parts & Service Manual #9 (The Big Book).
The shorter primary rods came with 1975 and later "Modified" Quadrajets, the M4MC-style.

jagness:
But it was built in ‘75.
