Using the green power piston spring

I was going to use the green spring from the power piston spring kit, since Cliff recommended it for my application. It's pretty long, so was wondering if it needs to be shortened, or if it's fine to use it full length. Should've asked Cliff at the time, but didn't think of it then. Thanks.
