Adaptors
« on: March 30, 2023, 05:24:49 PM »
I know adaptors are not ideal but it seems 90% of aftermaket intakes are squarebore.  I have a Holley 300-36 id like to try on my 350 combo, so is there any adaptor thats better than others?  Thanks

Im trying to remember, is the 300-36 the Holley Street Dominator? If you are dead set on running it, get the correct square bore to spread bore adapter...and grinder ready. To make it work decent you will need to clean up the flow path and do some radius work. I used an open spacer on an old Torker single plane, and by the time i was done grinding and blending you couldn't tell where the adapter and manifold met. Way better than all the overhangs that you will have where the 2 meet. Personally, i would find a dedicated qjet manifold before doing that again.
Also, what is your engine setup?

Yes its a holley street dom dual plane.  Engine is a 360 sbc, bowtie 2 heads, 232/234 hydraulic 108lc, 10.1, 3.36 gears, 4 speed sag.  I like the 300-36, it looks almost a factory intake when painted and has a decent plentum.  If i could find a quaddy pattern one id use it

The performer RPM  is a decent intake with the powerband where i want but there $700+ here.   I presume thats a square bore intake modded to suit a quaddy? Worth considering, thanks

I just opened it up a bit so the transition was a little smoother. I can't remember where I got the adapter/spacer..
