Throttle Shaft?
« on: July 30, 2023, 03:49:20 PM »
Cliff - Do you sell a throttle shaft that can convert a Buick carb for use on a Pontiac?  I see aftermarket versions online but recall you warned against them for issues with shaft diameter tolerances or other poor fit.

If not new, can you supply a used Pontiac throttle shaft?

If I go shopping for used parts, do all Pontiac primary shafts fit all QJs?  My Buick carb is 69 or 70 as I recall... maybe 71.  Is there a range of Pontiac carbs I need to stay with?

Thanks,

Mike

I sell Pontiac throttle shafts when I have them but currently don't have any early ones that use the bolt on linkage (67-71).

72-74 will work, but uses the later linkage that is part of the shaft, not removable....

Thanks Cliff

Yes, I need the bolt-on style shaft.

Are the repros sold by Parts Place and others OK or should I look for a used original?

The ones I've seen are terrible. The plating on them is so thick they will NOT go thru a pair of bushings without removing all of it....
