Quadrajet Problem Solving > Diagnose a Quadrajet carburetor problem
Main air bleed question?
slicer87:
I think I have found what is causing my idle problem. The CCC Qjet I had rebuilt by a local shop seems to be missing restrictors for the main air bleeds in the airhorn. My carb is for an 1986 Monte Carlo SS so should it have these restrictors since I read that missing ones can cause trouble but some Qjets didn't came with them. Sadly I can't remember if my carb had them before the rebuild.

Hi,
I have a un-molested carb from an '86 SS & this one has the large bleeds in the air-horn & in the main body as do most every chevy carb that I have seen from the early '70's until the end...
slicer87:
Thanks for the answer, does your 86 carb have any kind of inserts in the main bleeds or are there no inserts at all?
slicer87:
Anybody? ???
73ss:
No it does not have any inserts in the bleeds. The bleeds are roughly .125" The CCC carbs can be fussy if they are not adj properly..
