Question about Quadrajet power piston spring
« on: October 14, 2023, 08:34:59 AM »
Hey guys I freshened up the carb on my 75 Cadillac Coupe DeVille, it is an apt carb. The only problem is when I took it apart, I lost the spring that goes under the piston. At the time I needed the car to run so I threw the spring from a free bank pen in there and reassembled the carburetor. Of course the primary side is borderline useless and I can't get the mixtures set right. I just bought one of the pow piston spring kits, how do I know which spring is the best spring for my carburetor? Will a Quadrajet run without the lid? I'm guessing it would be similar to an Edelbrock where you want the metering rods all the way down at idle but pop up as soon as you touch the throttle? I had a copy of Cliff's book but since I moved I can't find it. I remember there being a section about this in there. Any help would be appreciated thanks

Yes I think I did.  I bought it about a year ago off eBay. It had 3 springs and the lock in the kit.  I have the little bag sitting on my work bench.  But the packaging isn't there anymore.
