Is pump gas safe (93 octane)
« on: September 21, 2023, 12:23:57 PM »
Engine is a 30 over high compression 68 400 with the unported cast iron 16 heads and a Crower 60916 degreed to 107-108icl.
I have no information of the deck height or quench other than it has flat top pistons and a 3 angle valve job.

After some fine tuning of the idle mixtures, it's pulling 18-19" vacuum at 950rpm (14" in drive, 620 rpm) all heat soaked.

-180 thermostat and a 2 row aluminum radiator with 1" tubes
-spark plugs are ngk 5670-6
-exhaust crossover to the intake is blocked with plates in the gasket kit (no more burning paint)
-total timing is about 34-35 at 3000 (initial is about 14, vacuum advance is a VC 302 Unit on ported vacuum so that adds another 10-12 to the total at cruise)
-carter 4852s with 73/43 primary and DF secondary rod.
-ram air manifolds with 2.5" x type exhaust.

Asking since it's much harder to find the high octane stuff in the new area but seems to be doing fine on 93 however.

93 octane with 10 percent ethanol would be fine....
